What is the InSiteful Imagery™ functionality?
The InSiteful Imagery™ website is used to store and publish sequential vertical photographs with overlays (topographic contours, soil surveys, hydrologic data, utility plans, engineering plans, etc.). Toggling and viewing of the imagery facilitates trend analysis and other analytical tasks. On-line functionality for the end user includes pan, zoom, measure distances, measure areas, and capturing screen shots for off-line use. Future software enhancements will include draw tools to annotate photos, inclusion of oblique aerial photographs, and the ability to convert images to PDF, as needed.
Can't Google Earth (GE) do all this?
No. GE is a personal desktop tool, with imagery very limited in both resolution and currency (usually old and very "fuzzy"). Another significant limitation, as a personal desktop tool, it is unable to share a customized application within an entire organization or multiple organizations with multiple users. InSiteful Imagery™ provides high resolution imagery to your whole team
on demand.
Can any local aerial surveying firm provide
this service?
InSiteful Imagery™ capitalizes on the strengths of our (non-surveying) aerial photographer business partners and facilitates delivery of the imagery to End Users in a very utilitarian format. Aerial surveying firms are generally not well-suited to imaging small areas using digital techniques.
What kind of camera is used for InSiteful Imagery™?
For this service, a non-mapping ("non-metric") grade DSLR camera is typically used by the aerial photographer. BOYLE uses a proprietary image rectification procedure to orient the imagery, geospatially, for
proper viewing.
